We change our LAN organization from :

Server n° 1  with a Primary Domain Controller - Domain "A" - WINDOWS 2003 SERVER

Server n° 2  with a Primary Domain Controller - Domain "B" - WINDOWS 2003 SERVER - IIS6 - SQL Server Express - DNN 4.7

to

Server n° 1  with a Primary Domain Controller - Domain "A" - WINDOWS 2003 SERVER

Server n° 2  with  Under Domain "A" - WINDOWS 2003 SERVER - IIS6 - SQL Server Express - DNN 4.7

After modification   selecting in the main menu :  HOST and then HOST SETTINGS we receive the follow  error:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Impossibile trovare il file di origine 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\t3wzhlug.0.cs' error CS2008: Nessun input specificato ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Impossibile trovare il file di origine 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\t3wzhlug.0.cs' error CS2008: Nessun input specificato at System.Xml.Serialization.Compiler.Compile(Assembly parent, String ns, XmlSerializerCompilerParameters xmlParameters, Evidence evidence) at System.Xml.Serialization.TempAssembly.GenerateAssembly(XmlMapping[] xmlMappings, Type[] types, String defaultNamespace, Evidence evidence, XmlSerializerCompilerParameters parameters, Assembly assembly, Hashtable assemblies) at System.Xml.Serialization.TempAssembly..ctor(XmlMapping[] xmlMappings, Type[] types, String defaultNamespace, String location, Evidence evidence) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.GenerateTempAssembly(XmlMapping xmlMapping, Type type, String defaultNamespace) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type, String defaultNamespace) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.XmlUtils.Serialize(Object obj) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Host.FriendlyUrls.SaveViewState() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.SaveAllState() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

We receive the same error with a fresh installation of the DNN 4.8  or  an old one ( example 4.5.5 ).

The admin menu seem to work fine and the others menu as well.

Now we can't admin the HOST SETTINGS and the web site is down !

It seems DNN can't find the file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\t3wzhlug.0.cs

What's happening ?

Thank's in advance , Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I had the same problem, basically the dnn service account I was using did not have access to c:\windows\temp.  As soon as I gave it explicit permissions all started working correctly.  DNN usually runs under the network service account but I decided to change mine, not sure if you have done this too?

Let me know how you get on

I have encounted the same error and managed to find a solution as well. It seems like the DNN application does not like being in an isolation pool i.e place domain in a .Net 2 framework but set it to use its own app cells. I use Helm and this is a great hosting tool to use. I have taken the domain name out of the isolated app pool and place back into the shared DotNet pool and the error vanished. Hope this made sense to someone;-)

In IIS, place the domain name in the DotNet application pool and restart the site;-)
