Hello all,

I'm using Vista Ultimate and I'm running a few installations of DNN 4.5.x-4.80.

Now, I'm trying to install a site running on DNN 3.2.2 but I'm getting various erros.

I believe its because of the .NET 1.1 that needs to be related to the installation.

How would I do that?

Thanks

In preparing to test upgrade a live DNN site running DNN 3.1.1 I had to create a mirror of it on my development system which is now running Vista Business and IIS7. Although it appears that Asp.Net 1.1 runtime is installed along with Vista, I could not create in II7 an Application Pool targeting Asp.Net 1.1. The following article helped greatly:

http://www.iis.net/articles/view.aspx/IIS7/Hosting-Web-Applications/ASP-NET/How-to-Run-ASP-NET-v1-1-on-IIS7

Let me know if you run into any problems as I just went through this.

Hello,

thanks for your reply.

So you managed to make it work? When I add teh ISAPI filter, the server gives a 500 error.

Have you had that problem?

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: Calling GetProcAddress on ISAPI filter "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_isapi.dll" failed

Error Code: 0x8007007f

Notification: Unknown

Module: IIS Web Core

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/xx/Default.aspx

Physical Path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xx\files\Default.aspx

Logon User: Not yet determined

Logon Method: Not yet determined

Handler: PageHandlerFactory-ISAPI-2.0

Most likely causes:

  • The ISAPI Filter has dependencies that are not available on the Web server.
  • IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
  • IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
  • IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
  • The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.

What you can try:

  • Try running Reskit tool "depends" on the ISAPI DLL.
  • Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
  • Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
  • Verify the permissions for the DLL.
  • Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.

More Information... This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.

Thankfully I did not run into that error so can't help your much.

Did you:

1. Enable IIS Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration Compatibility under Control Panel-->Programs-->Windows Features?

2. Run the aspnet_regiis -enable command from the v1.1.432 folder? When I did this, an Application Pool for ASP.NET 1.1 was automatically created. I did not have to manually create one.

3. Did you reboot following the install of ASP.Net 1.1, the SP update and the security patch?

4. When in the IIS management console you added the DNN 3.2.2 application to the Default Websites node did you select the ASP.NET 1.1 Application pool?
