Which version/download of DNN should we install from 4.08.00 -- source, install or starter kit? Using VS 2005 Professional and want to be able to do the following:

* Bring in our own modules that work off an existing SQL database (existing website). Example would be a Boats for Sale module where we already have a custom CMS module in C#. Need to be able to do various displays of this data on different pages based on conditions in the database/table.

* Modify some existing DNN modules to streamline code HTML to be XHTML compliant and cleaner. For example, the Links module is insanely "table heavy" and want to streamline to simple UL lists with custom styles.

I would suggest downloading and installing the starter kit. It is by far the easiest and quickest way to get a dnn site up and running for development
