Hello,

I have installed DNN 4.08 on my development computer with SQL Server Express. All work fine.

I want to transfert my site on production server witch is in the same configuration (2003 Server, SQL Server Express)

But I have this error message:

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer

The ASPNET user have all rights on pub folder.

Here is my connection string (the same on development pc and server):
Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;

Thank you

Run

As a professional opinion, you REALLY don't want to host a production website on SQL Express.

As for your problem, if you're on win2k3 the Network Service account needs access to the site, not aspnet

Thank you for your reply Chris,

You are right about SQL Express, it's a test for deploying my first DNN site :-)
For my problem I use PLESK on this server and plesk makes for me the configuration: it configure the pool identity with IUSR_XXXX (IUSR_XXXX have all rights on my pub folder...)

So I tried to change this configuration and put it on Network Service: I've got "Server Application Unavailable"

I don't solved my problem...

You could try to install sql management studio (on your client) and connect to the server and attach the database.mdf file to the sql server. Then edit your webconfig to connect with a normal sql server 2000/2005 connectionstring.
