Environment:

Windows server 2003; VWD;  Sql Server Express

Starter kit.

I am getting this error message:

controller.vb

Line 29: Imports DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.XmlUtils
Line 30:
Line 31: Namespace YourCompany.Modules.$fileinputname$

Compiler Error Message: BC30037: Character is not valid.

From what I can see in the code the $fileinputname$ is not being replaced with the proper name. This is assumed because the first $ is the complaint. Is the code having trouble loading the mdf file from app_data?

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thank  you Kathlyn! for your detailed instructions to load Dnn.
My oversight was not giving the appropriate permission to ASPNET or NETWORK SERVICES to SQL Express.
I could not believe my eyes when the install started running. But I was not disappointed. When I got to the page to test the connection,
the installed found the remote connection was refused by SQL Server Express on the local machine.  Local and remote and TCP/VIP
connections have been turned on. I could not get around this. Since I have another server running Windows 2003 and SQL Development
Version, I tried to connect to it. SUCCESS!

I have researched many  sources and this one link has contained what I needed.
