Hi there

i have asked the same question previously but didnt get the answer so i will post it again.

My Question is i want to run DNN on the local intranet.

I will just brief you on how i did the installation.

I have installed SQL SERVER 2005 on the machine on default instance. I have made a blank database.

I have installed VS2005. Then i downloaded the Starter's Kit. installed the template with it. Then Open the new DNN template and gave the path of Inetpub - WWWROOT. Then did the required changes in the webconfig file.
Then i Press Ctrl+F5 and did the auto installation. And opened the portal.

I made my own users and did some changes in the Host account also.

But everytime i am opening VS2005 and then pressing Ctrl+F5 and taking to the portal. and if i try with http://loaclhost/ its not coming. i tried with putting my IP in place of local host also then also not coming.

And i am having IIS and i made the virtual directory also but still no luck. Can any one please Guide me.

Thank You.

Dont use the starter kit, use the install kit.  Its not your fault, the starter kit is badly named and causes confusion, and I really wish the core team would rename it to "development kit" or similar.

Download the install kit and follow this guide... Easy DotNetNuke installation guide

Some other DNN install and maintainence guides I have written include:

How to install DotNetNuke on a hosted server
How to backup and restore a DotNetNuke website
How to move a DotNetNuke website
Essential DotNetNuke settings guide

I am sorry JK. As you have instructed the things on your website i have done them according to your instructions.

I made blank Database on SQL 2005.

Then made the changes in the web.config file. But when i am trying for that its giving me an error "404 PAGE not found." and when i am putting the my ip instead of localhost i am getting the error in the web.config file. "--'providerName' is an unexpected token. Expecting white space. Line 23, position 78.--"

I think i have done the changes as instructed by you.

Note: i am on the same system where i have installed the template with the help of starters kit.

So anyone could me that would be great.

Thanks
