I try to install DNN 4.0.2 in my w2k3 server

I try http://localhost/DotNetNuke_2/Install/Install.aspx?mode=Install

and answer:

DotNetNuke Configuration Error

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.Access to the path 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke_2\web.config' is denied.

DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Enable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

If using Windows 2000 - IIS5
- the {Server}\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website

If using Windows 2003 - IIS6
- the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website

I give this permissions, but remains as is, always crash here

Pls, can you help me

Make sure that the individual files (first the web.config) have hte proper NTFS permissions (NETWORK SERVICE).  Just because it was set on the folder does not mean it is fine on the individual files.  Especially if you moved the files from your desktop.

NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET have full permission enabled, maybe I need to modify my machine.config?

But I don't see what is the problem, because I set full permission over the folder and the users

Giving the folder the permission in certain situations does not propagate to children files and folders so, make sure you ask windows to have them inherit the settings.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

When I gave this folder permission, I check the propagate to subfolders option
