Got DNN (4.8.1) to successfully install, and can access it via localhost/dotnetnuke/

I can't access the site remotely.  We get HTTP 403 error - access is denied.

I've added the Vista IP address to the portals table, also added the machines hostname.

I've successfully accessed the logo (machinename/dotnetnuke/logo.gif)

We're only trying to access this from other pcs on the same network.

Help / suggestions are appreciated

For starters, what do you use to access it remotely?  The resource name is what should be in the portal alias. For example, \\server\dotentnuke the portal alias should be "server\dotnetnuke".  Not there is no protocol identifier or trailing slash.

403 indicates a permission problem with IIS and the folder/file, or browsing to get default.aspx. Using IIS Manager, ensure NETWORK SERVICE has full access to the root of your DotNetNuke installation. Also verify that default.aspx is in the default document list.

If you are using IIS7 there should be a minor error code as well. 403.14 indicates that default document is not defined.

I hope this is of some help to you.

I met the same problem. I have resolved it.

Simply, in page settings , You only need to create another host alias (include your IP address like : " xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/YourWeb"" . not "localhost/YourWeb")
