Hi all,

I am not sure where to post this question but since this looks like a spot where "beginners" would first start having problems I thought I would post here.  I have built a web page a LONG time ago when I used AOL.  I built it using AOL's proprietary software and it was "fairly" easy.  I was just starting to use HTML when I let the site go down because I left AOL.  Here is my question:  I am wondering how many of you that have built a site using DNN with my level of experience were/are able to get a simple site up without pulling your hair out and taking 100 man hours?  In other words can I do this?!?  Most of the comments I have read in the threads gave the impression that there aren't many uber noobs here. . .

Second question.  I am thinking about posting a request on e-lance to basically build my site (informational only at this time) for me but do so in DNN.  The main reason is so that I can do any maintanance and changes using DNN (saves me from buying dreamweaver).   Does this sound like a good strategy for my nobbiness?

Thanks mucho,

michael

It really depends on what you really want and what you really want to spend.  I can get a good host for under 15/month that allows me to have a personal site they setup for me.  I can still have the ability to be admin, change looks, edit content, add modules, etc and not have to worry myself with setting up.  Actually, if you can't use anything but ftp and the website itself, you are probably safer from screwing things up.  To me this is a cost that was going to be put out at least at 10/month no matter what i choose. I am by no means a rich man but under 200/year for a website including domain is nothing. I could spend my money on a skin and other money on some third party mods and still be under $200-300, depending on desires, for startup costs.  I would think the normal "here is my site about me" person could do all this for $140/year plus setup of under $200 bucks.  I don't see much else being cheaper with this type of flexibility for this type of situation. For so little money I can do just anything I want to my site over time and not have to become an expert at it.
