Greetings-

I've had problems trying to install new versions Chat, iFrame, Survey, and User Defined Table.  In each instance, I get the following error at the end:

ExceptionSystem.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.Config.AddCodeSubDirectory(String name) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.CreateModuleFile(PaFile File, PaFolder Folder) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.CreateFiles(PaFolder Folder) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.Install(PaFolderCollection folders) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

The updated module does not get installed.  In the case of iFrame, I tried deleting it completely ahead of time but get the same result.  I did find this post

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/59/threadid/121498/scope/posts/Default.aspx

but my web.config file already has the correct <configuration> tag.

My DNN install is made up of a front-end web server with files hosted on a network file server share.  I've been through a lot with that setup since DNN 3 and am confident it is working properly.  I used Filemon and there's no file access problems except missing localization information.

I am running 4.8.1, but this has existed on any version 4 that I can remember.

Thanks,
Mark

I had a brainstorm during the morning commute.  Another oddity of my setup is that I have sub-applications running underneath DNN, and in my DNN web.config I have to use the <location inheritInChildApplications="false"></location> tag to block application settings inheritance.  I remembered that I always have to comment this out during DNN upgrades, and thought maybe that's what was needed for module upgrades as well.

After doing so, whala!
