Have a working site using DNN 4.4.1. Using the upgrade package I have tried multiple times to upgrade to 4.6.2 or 4.8.1. The upgrade process reports no errors in either case and I can view the sitemap.aspx & keepalive.aspx pages after the upgrade.  There is only 1 portal in the install.  When I try to access the home page FF reports "the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." and IE just keeps trying with no error. ...

Using Fiddler I am seeing repeating 302 redirects to '/Default.aspx?tabid=53' when I enter just the site address (eg www.domain.com). TabID 53 is the homepage tab. If I try to access the site via another valid page (eg http://www.domain.com/?tabid=54) shows a 302 redirect to "/Home/tabid/53/language/en-US/Default.aspx" and then goes into the repeating 302 redirects to tabid=53.

Anyone any ideas on what is causing the repeating redirects?

TIA

Antony

HomeTabID =53 and yes the portal alias is specified correctly.  FYI there is only 1 alias and 1 portal in the install also we are using IIS host headers to only allow the one address.

I have just tried upgrading another 4.4.1 install (this time to 4.8.2) and it is suffering the same fate.  This new one has multiple portals in the install and each one goes into a continous 302 loop to the tabid representing the applicable home page.  This new site has no 3rd party modules installed.  In both cases the 4.4.1 installs were working fine before the upgrade.

To review I am upgrading by:

  1. Stopping the IIS site
  2. Copying the new Upgrade package over the old
  3. Using release.config copying the old connection strings across as well as the encryption key and machine key (not copying the machine key for the latest upgrade to 4.8.2)
  4. Saving the amended release.config as web.config
  5. Starting the IIS site
  6. Accessing the site, the upgrade completes with no errors

I don't beleive its a cookie issue as I have tried accessing from various machines, including the server and have specifically allowed the sites in the FF settings. Also I have recently upgraded another install from 3.1.1 to 4.4.1 to 4.8.1 on the same server and that is working fine.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please.

TIA
