Have a working site using DNN 4.4.1. Using the upgrade package I have tried multiple times to upgrade to 4.6.2 or 4.8.1. The upgrade process reports no errors in either case and I can view the sitemap.aspx & keepalive.aspx pages after the upgrade.  There is only 1 portal in the install.  When I try to access the home page FF reports "the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." and IE just keeps trying with no error.

Any ideas what I should be looking for to fix this?

TIA

Antony

According to http://kb.mozillazine.org/The_page_is_not_redirecting_properly it may be a cookie problem.

If that does not work, you may have to explain how you upgraded. Did you copy the original site to a new folder? Did you overwrite your exisiting site with the upgrade package? Did you rename release.config to web.config and adjust the SiteSqlServer(s), machineKey, objectQualifier as required?

I don't believe cookies are the issue in this case.  I can see the cookies in the browser cache and have tried deleting them and then accessing the site to no avail. Also, I have set the browser to allow cookies and included the site in FF options to always accept cookies from this site.

To upgrade the site I copied the upgrade package over the existing site and copied the items you mentioned to release.config then renamed it to web.config.

Any ideas?

The only other thing that comes to mind is to rename (root)SiteUrls.config to SiteUrls.old.config and replace it with (root)\Config\SiteUrls.config. You can always manually compare them but to be sure I would use the orginal version.

Beyond that, I would suggest using the source and debug environment to see exectly what is happening.

Please let us know what you find.

Tried renaming siteurls.config restarting the app and opening the site (DNN recreates SiteURLs.config automatically) but still get the same error.

Is there a table in the DB that stores the SiteURLs data so the .config file can get remade? If so which one is it
