the upgraded seemed to run fine...but the site loads slower then it did and none of my log in user password seems to work

how can i force a password change

Tom,

If you overlayed the web.config when upgrading -- did you remember to modify the machine key in your new web.config to use the previous machine key? This key is used in encrypting and decrypting passwords and is a likely cause of your issue.
