Hi,

I've just tried to update dnn 4.8.1 to dnn 4.8.2, the problem is when i visit the site i get the message installing dotnetnuke 4.8.2 and not updating.

Here the steps i've made before updating.

  1. Downloaden dnn 4.8.2 update
  2. Created a back-up of the complete dnn install directory
  3. Created a back-up of the database
  4. Stopped IIS
  5. Extract the update zip in the dnn directory (and overwrited everything)
  6. Rename release.config in web.config
  7. Overwrited <connectionStrings> and <machineKey validationkey=        />
  8. Started IIS
  9. Visit the site, and noticed that the message showed installing instead of update
  10. Stopped and posted my problem here.

I'm using a encrypted connectionString could this be the problem?

Can anyone tell me what i should do, thanx already.

I copied the connectionString below over the data between <connectionString> </connectionString>

 <connectionStrings configProtectionProvider="DataProtectionConfigurationProvider">

a few lines down is a second position, where the connection string is needed.

I haven't tried to use an encrypted CS, maybe for the upgrade you should insert the unencryted version.

I've indeed forgotten to change te connectionString in the appSettings but this doesn't help.

I've also used a unencrypted connectionString but still still does dnn think it must install instead of updating
