Hi,

current my site www.somnathmahadev.com is running on static html.

i want to install DNN for this site using sql express so i dont have to take sql server hosting.

can anybody please know me what are the steps i have to follow.

at the time of installation where i have to define my site url as default site e.g www.somnathmahadev.com

I'm a little confused at this are you looking at hosting the application on your external host and getting it to connect to the sql server express instance on your local server?
I really wouldn't recommend doing that...

But to your question to assign the url of a site or portal you could create it locally and then add and alias in the site settings or in the host portals list select the portal to edit and then add and alias at the bottom of the page.

You have to have SQL Express available on your host then.  It's not possible to install without SQL Express or full SQL Server on your host.

ok, so can i use MySQL with DNN?

as from my hosting provider my plan allow me to create 8 MySQL databases.

so can i use MySQL for DNN?

In theory yes though I don't know if anyone has fully created a provider for it.. though the core team would know better.
