How long should the database scripts take?

I've been staring at the running progress bar and an empty text box under it for close to an hour and all that happened on my database is a table "Version" and three stored procs have been created...

Something got created, so I'm guessing my connection is fine...

I've started over twice, same deal.

I have the same problem, but you can check the button for auto install (bottom of the page) then it works for me.
There is something wrong in the installwizard I think.

Metaphore,

The Version table and the stored procs are created before you get to the InstallWizard step for setting up the database. In fact, they are created by the time the InstallWizard.aspx page loads in the browser the first time. I found that it's better to drop and re-create the database between tries otherwise the installer doesn't work so great.

A few other things to check:

1. What permissions have you given to the user account that you set in the connection string? I would suggest db_owner permissions.

2. Are you using SQL 2005 Express or a regular SQL Server 2005? I would also suggest you patch SQL 2005 to Service Pack 1 (there are SP1 updates for both Express and other editions).

3. If you are installing on Vista, see my post here on stuff you need to setup.
