I have GoDaddy Deluxe hosting, and added in another website.  I then created a new portal, with the new website name and alias without the www.

When I go into the new website, my initial website on the GoDaddy account comes up, not my new website.  What am I doing wrong, or what should I have done or need to do.  HELP!  I have been battling with this a long time.

My DNN install is in www.mydomain/4u (I use 4u instead of dotnetnuke as it is more friendly) and I am using DNN 4.7.  GoDaddy said i should remove FrontPage extensions which I did and it made no difference.  I set the path to be /4u in GoDadyd.  Is this correct?  I tried other paths, but whatever I seem to do, I land up in my initial domain.

Anxiously waiting and hoping someone will tell me what I have missed - and not tell me to go somewhere to read a [long] document that I have to pay for!  I have done so much to sort this out, and no finances available at the moment, even though this information is definitely valuable.

Since you have the 4u folder as your install location, the portal alias value for the new domain should be

newurl.com/4u

I would validate that you have the /4u portion in the alias.

Well, you should have read all the documentation for DNN anyway, plus the DNN online help.  All free.  But my guess is you never added the portal alias correctly, the result of that would be exactly as you describe.  Adding the path is important, and adding the www as well is a good idea.

Might also try not posting in Comic Sans.  It's cute on MySpace, passable on your own web site, annoying on a forum.

This is why it is not a good idea to use a hosting company that does not specialize in DotNetNuke hosting - when you have a problem, they will tell you all sorts of bull, because they just dont know the answer

You can read my Easy DotNetNuke installation guide, or you can also download all the official documents including an install guide from here (dotnetnuke.com login required).

I have seen lots of people complaining about godaddy sub folder problems, but I dont use them as a host, so I dont really know the answer sorry.  The first thing you should do is what Mitchel said - check that your portal alias is www.mydomain.com/4u

You can not set up dotnetnuke by using godaddy template. You have to set it up indirectly (require lots of configuration) because godaddy only allow extension and not a default page so if you want to go to 4u then users have to type http://mydomain.com/4u
