Im trying to install DDN 4.7.0 on a remote server. I have configured the web.config file so it points to the 2005 MS SQL database, however when i run the install.aspx file, it produces an error saying it has a problem with the machineKey.

My question is this, since its a new install, shouldnt the default machinekey values be ok since there has been no users made?

How do i find out the validation and decryption key on the remote machine im trying to insall to?

Thanks in advance,

Jy.

These settings are in the web.config file. Are the permissions set correctly on the directory the DNN is installed in (including sub-direcotries).  The permissions need to be as follows.

Win2000: ASPNet User - Read, List, Write, Modify, Execute.

Win2003 and above: Network Service User - Read, List, Write, Modify, Execute.

If not set, this could affect the install since the install creates new random keys for the install, so the site does not use the default keys.
