Hi, help needed please...

I am hoping that someone can get back to me pretty quickly as I have a deadline to meet. :-(

I have installed DNN locally and have created a website - no major problems.  Do not seem to have had to create a new database - has been running from VS2008 with no problems.

I have now ftp'd my site (have plonked all files into wwwroot folder including internal DNN database) and am getting the following error message when trying to run the DNN install file /install/install.aspx

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.08.02

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

This is the connection string in my web.config, what am I doing wrong?:

Did you setup the permissions on the server?

Does the server have SQL Express installed?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your speedy reply - this really is a nightmare.

As far as I know, MS SQL Server 2000 is installed.  As for permissions, I 'think' so.

Have changed connection string to:

<

add

name="SiteSqlServer"

connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

And in answer to the permissions question, I have checked and the folder has read and write permissions.

You can change your connection string a million times, if it doesn't match the database you're using, it won't work.  Open the documentation, read the install instructions and make sure you know the configuration needed to get to the database.
