Hi I'm running Windows XP media edition, IIS 5.1, SQL Server 2005 express,  and trying to install DNN 04.08.03

I've manually created the DotNetNuke database in SQL, set permissions to everyone modify for the folder (didn't seem to run with the Network service set to modify)

Navigated to the site and logged in, got to the SQL installation screen and get the above error when I try to test the SQL connection.    I have for the

server parameter   MyActualComputerName\SQLEXPRESS

file parameter is Database.mdf   and that file does exist in the APP_data directory

both integrated security and run as db owner are checked

I would appreciate any suggestions as to what to check next.

Thanks Chris

If you manually created the database in SQL Server, you do NOT want to specify the .mdf file for dynamic attachment.

If you are using integrated security, you must ensure that your ASP.NET Worker process (ASPNET) has permissions to the database server.

I have a full installation guide which might help you out a bit, it is available at http://www.mitchelsellers.com

HI, your document got me by the SQL problem, and the install finished   Thanks!  But when I run the project all I get is a site that says it is unavialable (under construction)  I though there was supposed to be an optional template to build some default menus etc.  Even without the change to the useinstallwizard setting the same thing happened any ideas?  Also my documentation folder has esentially no files, where do I find it?

I created the database with the visual studio express, checked the web.cofig, and everything looked correct. The setup was running fine, then it tried to connect to the database and was getting the error 15350 I found this thread, removed the database name from the install dialogur and bam... it continues installing. Why does the setup default to having the (correct) database name in the box, when it needs to be blank?

Please be more specific about your setup (OS, SQL Server version, connection string), especially when replying to a pre-historic thread ;)
