Although I can appreciate the time and effort that must have been neccessary to create such an application, I must say the documentation is far from helpful when troubleshooting database connectivity issues. I've read ALL the available docs and searched through over 413 google searches and am still unable to resolve this issue:
(Error:could not connect to database specified in connectionstring for sqldataprovider)
All syntax is correct, aspnet account data is appropriate along with file system permissions, and database user data is appropriately applied. I am at a cpmplete loss as to why I continue to recieve this error. Any help for this is much appreciated. Thank you.

Can you post what you entered (staring out the uname and pass)?  The connection String is very simple.  Most often when you see an error like this you will find there is a miss spell etc in the server name, username, or password.  At WillowTree we do a lot of installs and every once in a while we will get an incorrect password or server name and that is the cause.

Here is offending string I believe. I cant seem to figure this out.

<!-- the old connectionString setting has been deprecated and replaced with the data provider section below -->
 <appSettings>
  <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=CAPHQ1;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=xxxxx;pwd=xxxxxx;" />
  <add key="MachineValidationKey" value="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902" />
  <add key="MachineDecryptionKey" value="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902F8D923AC" />
  <add key="MachineValidationMode" value="SHA1" />
  <add key="InstallTemplate" value="DotNetNuke.install.resources" />
  <add key="AutoUpgrade" value="true" />
  <add key="UseDnnConfig" value="true" />
  <add key="InstallMemberRole" value="true"/><!--optionally install the MemberRole scripts -->
  <add key="ShowMissingKeys" value="false" /><!-- Show missing translation keys (for development use) -->
  <add key="EnableWebFarmSupport" value="false" /><!--Set to true to enable web farm suppot.  See Web Farm Support documentation for additional configuration steps.-->
  <add key="EnableCachePersistence" value="false" /><!--Some cached items can persist an app recycle by serializing the object to disk. Set to "true" to enable this performance enhancement.-->
 </appSettings>

I wonder if I just looked at this too long and missed something simple. Ive read the docs about 10 times already. I'm ready for a fresh perspective. Also here's the info:

windows adv server 2000

M$ sql server 2000

IIS 5.0

asp.net v2

Is this your SQL Server or is it hosted by a 3rd party?

It's mine. I'm running it locally on a server machine.
