I have a new server setup. Its running Windows Server 2003 R2, with IIS 6, and SQL 2005.

I've copied the code base, into a folder called DNN. I created a blank DB, modified the web.config. I create a new website inside of IIS that points to the DNN folder. And I assign a hostheader to it.

As soon as I goto http://<hostheader> it automatically redirects me to http://<servername>/Install/InstallWizard.aspx... which goes to page can't be displayed since my default website is rooted to a empty folder.

I've also added a Virtual Directory off of the default website and pointed it to the codebase. Which when it redirects, I can actually do the install, everything goes fine. But when I added my hostheader, and restart the application it still redirects me to the <servername>.

It seems no matter what I do it always wants to redirect to my server name which is not a FQDN. Any help or suggestions would be helpful.

Don't use localhost, use the FQDN of the server to install. That's just general principle. Make sure you have a portal alias in DNN for the URL you're using, likely the same you put in the host header.
