I have a DNN intranet site that I installed the normal way, but I downloaded the source files and I'd like to be able to compile it in VS2008. I tried downloading the Source file and then copying my current DotNetNuke folder into the Website subfolder, but when I go to build it it keeps giving me errors about certain files not existing, for example it says "RoleProvider.vb" can't be found in the folder "Library/Components/Providers/Users/". I looked in that folder and there wasn't a file named RoleProvider.vb.

Is there an easier way to do this? I'd hate to have to start all over from a brand new installation if there's an easier way.

you need to ensure to use all files from same version! Before opening solution in VS edit the sln file manually to adopt the web path to your situation.

I edited the .sln file to point to the directory on the server where the DNN site is hosted. I'm trying to open the solution in VS2008 on my computer, but I keep getting the error "Could not open website....The server does not appear to have Frontpage Server Extensions Installed". I'm fairly certain all the permissions are set correctly because the site worked fine before.

only the web site path (in 2 places) shall be adopted (using same URL as in your browser). There is no need for Frontpage or sth like this.

Okay, now I'm getting an "unable to create local cache location". Does anyone know what this means? I haven't been able to find anything online, just a vague reference that makes me think it has something to do with Visual Studio 2008. Thanks for the help.
