HI All

I've just tried updating to 4.08.04 this weekend, and am getting the major hassles of during a build, VS 2008 cannot find the correct version of the dotnetnuke.dll. It is looking for the old build instead of using the new dll.

Tells me "Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "DotNetNuke, Version=4.8.0.0" So somewhere it is still looking for this instead of the new dll.

THis has happened before, is there some fool=proof way of doing these upgrades without these hassles? Where would this info be cached that it insists on using the old version?

Thanks

Harold

If you are updating an existing website, you can save yourself a LOT of trouble if you avoid trying to open it with any version of Visual Studio.  If you are updating from 4.6.2 or later, the upgrade process is remarkable simple:

  1. Backup your site
  2. Download the 4.8.4 upgrade package
  3. Uzip it over your existing web directory
  4. Browse to your  site to force an upgrade

What could be simpler than that?

That is very simple, but I would assume at some point a DNN project can be opened up with VS... Is it just a matter of not opening it up till after the upgrade process?

Thanks

Harold
