Hi,

I install a new fresh portal from Source version 4.9.0.

I create in IIS a virtual directory : DotNetNuke_Maintenance.
I use VS 2005 and the sql express database.

1) I had a problem in : Website\App_Code\Global.asax.vb

config in Private Sub Application_Start   are not known.
Then I had : Imports DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities and now it is OK

2) I log in Host user and I go on some chooses of the Host menu.
On each Update link I have a problem : nothing happen, no event happen. But It is OK on Cancel link and even on small icon lie with Update link.

I saw the update link use : Webform_ DoPostBackWithOptions and not Cancel link or small icon.

I found this article : http://www.developerdotstar.com/community/node/641 but it is not my problem.

Thanks to answer if you know how to solve.

Dominique

PS: sometimes I think that I (and others) will become crazy with asp.net and IIS because it has too many mysteries and Microsoft doesn't explain everything.

Wipe it out and reinstall using the Install version.  The source is just source, not an operating DNN install.  You have to build it first.  Never user Source unless you are going to edit the DNN core.  Never do that either.

I am sorry but I don't agree with you. The source package is a package which must run as another package (starter kit and install). It is not here only for people can see the code.

It must run .. and .. it runs.

I solves my second point : I had, for a try, change the system date of my computer. When I come back with the date of the day, the Webform_DoPostBackWithOptions is working. Why it doesn't work with an old date, I don't know but I know that it runs with the good date (in fact a date after the installation of the package).

Why do I install the Source and not the Install package ? Because I want a WAP (a web application with projects) and not a website (as the starter kit). I thought that the Install package is a website because there is not .sln and no .vbproj. I install it and I saw that the install is like the starter kit (a website) but we can add project in the solution which is created.

Thank you very much. I met the same problem when I created a new Dotnetnuke version 4.9.1 project using starter kit. I only logged in with host account. Then I tried to add new page. However, I were unable to click Update since there was error like this Webform_DoPostBackWithOption is not defined. Your solution saved me a lot of time.
