Hi,

First I would like to tell you some basics about my environment:

- Windows VISTA Ultimate using IIS7
- Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005
- Visual Studio 2005
- DotNetNuke v4.8.4 Source version
- DotNetNuke v4.9.0 Source version (eventually ...

I have now invested a whole day trying to do the following two things:

1) Upgrade of a DNN 4.8.4 source code installation to DNN 4.9.0 source code installation

- Tried first to copy the 4.9.0 source over the 4.8.4 installation. NOGO !
- Tried then to install a clean 4.9.0 source version ... NOGO. I wanted to install a clean version and after that copy skins, modules, content etc for the upgrade.

2) Clean installation of DNN 4.0.9 Source code version

- I created a directory for the application.
- Extracted the source code to that directory.
- added a web application referring to the website directory.
- Added security for NETWORK_SERVICES to full, inheriting access rights down the whole tree.

All well this far.

- Then I started the application and the installation starts.
- Directory access - OK.
- Database access - OK.
- Host and admin user accounts - OK.
- Modules installation - OK.
- Installation reporting successfull and asking me to click the link to go to my new portals startpage.

THIS IS NOGO - ETERNAL LOOP.

I have tried this clean installation 5 times - same result all times. What am I doing wrong ? I did this for v4.8.4 and no problems. What has been changed in the code for v4.9.0.

I must also advice the dotnetnuke team that on release dates for new versions - please do not say that you have updated the documentation when you only provide the v4.4.1-something docs. This is extremely frustrating and it happens all the time.

Can anyone help me with hints to how successfully install a clean DNN v4.9.0 Source to start with.

Rgds/Gunnar

... and make sure no firewall program gets in your way such as Zone Alarm, and cookies are enabled (in ZA, cookie control and add blocking should be switched off completely).

Hi Sebastian, thanks. Just tu make sure:

- Integrated mode

Q1: Do you mean the managed pipeline mode for the .NET Framework version, i.e. .NET Framework v2.0.50727 integrated instead opf classic ?

- Enable anonymous forms and standard auth, no windows authentication

Q2: I have enabled the Anonymous Authentication, but the ASP.NET Impersonation, Basic Authentication and forms Authentication are all three disabled by default. Shall these be changed ?

- No impersonitation

Q3: ASP.NET Impersonation is disabled by default in IIS7.

I have checked all this ... all seem to be ok.
