Hi

In module definition, there is this green upgrade possibilities, but I am in doubt about something.

One time I tried to upgrade Links, and I lost the whole portale. It was a mess :O)

My question is:

Shall I download the source file instead of install file?

All modules I allways has been used install files with downloads..

Can somebody help me with an answer, so I don't do anything wrong again - I'm a little bit afraid :O)

Best Regards,

Per

  • use source version only, when you plan to modify the module's source code and not on production sites!
  • do not uninstall previous version for an upgrade. Simply select "install new module" in Host :: Module Definitions and browse for the local file to install or select the preinstalled modules from the list and click install.
  • All core modules are tested with upgrade and new installation.

Thanks Sebastian (you are allways great :O)

If I understood it right:

When I have downloaded a module, I have been using "install" - and with the upgrade, I shall use "source" - right?

When I in the future install other modules, shall I then use source or install?

Thanks again!

Per,

no, always use install, unless you want to modify the module yourself.
