I have www.rebelrathosting.com working well now - even managed to get a new skin uploaded (well chuffed about that!) anyway, thought I'd be really clever and create a sub-domain (in this case http://tasracing.rebelrathosting.com) to play about with a new skin.

All was going well, installed all the files (DNN 3.2.2) and uploaded the same (as rebelrathosting.com) web.config file, just to see if everything worked - and it did - but obviously that wasnt really what I wanted; so off to my Helm control panel, created a new SQL 2000 database, user/password etc and edited the web.config file accordingly - uploaded and hey presto Server Error in '/' Application.

Can anyone help me out?

errr... if you just want to play around with a new skin, there's absolutely no need to create a new dnn instance... dnn will take care of multiple sites for you just fine... thats one of dnn's cool features.

what you should do is this:

* create a new sub domain, but point it to the same site as your original domain (ie. a domain alias) (this is something you'd do in your Helm control panel)
* log on as host in dnn, go to host>portals, and add a new parent portal, use the new subdomain as alias, enter values for the new admin user, pick a portal template, and presto.. you've got a new site on a different domain, running off the same dnn instance

cheers,

erik
