How do I move a dnn site to a new domain. I have a site hosted at godaddy. They say just backup the dnn folder and the sql database from the old site, and then updload the dnn folder and restore the database. I did that. I also modified the sql logon information in the web.config. The site won't load on the new domain. What else do I need to look for?

make sure, the new domain name is properly listed as portal alias (stored in database table portalalias).

I think I'm a step closer now. I updated the portalalias and I also set the folder as a virtual folder in iis. Now I'm getting "Upgrading DotNetNuke" Current assembly version 4.08 current database version 4.09. It says it's upgrading and then upgrade complete and click here to access your portal. But it still won't go into the portal. Does it take a while and I just need to wait? Or do I need to do something?

I'm stuck and godaddy won't help. I guess the old site was 4.08 and the dotnetnuke installed on the new site is 4.09. When I uploaded the dnn folder I didn't overwrite the one there. It was called dotnetnuke and what I uploaded was dnn. But I did overwrite the existing database with the one from 4.08. I'm not sure what I need to do to get the 4.08 code updated to 4.09. Any suggestions for a total web newbie?

If nothing seems to happen when you click the "access your portal" link then you might have a redirect loop.  Use firefox when installing because that will display a "redirect loop error" message, IE will not.  If you do get the message, then read this... http://www.bestwebsites.co.nz/dotnetnuke/solving-the-dotnetnuke-redirect-loop/
