Hello,
New to DNN Here but I've been strugling with different errors just trying to install. I get the error listed below (2nd error) when trying to install from www.mysite.com/install/installwizard.aspx.  I have change the permisssions on the folder still the same.
'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Config\Backup_200810201617\web_.config' doesn't even exist.

I get a generic run time error when I try to install from the www.mysite.com.
Funny thing is I almost had it installed but the install failed a couple of steps past the SQL script writing. (sry don't remember what step) the install just crashed. THe web server and the SQL box are on two seperate servers.
I know I have a valid connection between the two because my other site are fine.
Thanks

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

DotNetNuke Configuration Error

Could not find a part of the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Config\Backup_200810201617\web_.config'.Access to the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config' is denied.

DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Disable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

  • If using Windows 2000 - IIS5
    1. the [SERVER]\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website.

  • If using Windows 2003 - IIS6
    1. the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website.

I think I've seen this error before - What I think caused it for me was that the NETWORK SERVICE account didn't have access to all the subfolders, but did the web root. I don't remember exactly, but if I saw this error on an install, that'd be the first thing I'd check.

Make sure that the DotNetNuke database also has prmisions for NETWORK SERVICE user, also I have allowed this user the access to web.config file. If that does not work, then give the permission to the whole (root) DotNetNuke folder.
