Quick question: When using install.aspx?mode=installResources to install a skin package, will the installed files always go into the _Default portal?  I've got a client that really wants to install their skins this way, so we'd obviously like to have the skins install into their own portal folder.

Maybe there's a setting somewhere that I'm missing?

No, unfortunately there is no option.
