I have been an avid user of dNN for sometime now. However, the installation of 4.09 is criminal. I would like to install a completely fresh copy of this release, so I log onto the DNN site, download the Install zip, change the web.config with my connection string then upload the whole lt. Unfortunately, the "Install Wizard" seems to produce the following:

Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...Upgrading Database to Version ERROR: See c:\sites\single11\clipperplace\webroot\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\04.04.00.log for more information...Success
undefined...Success
undefined...Success

The undefined...Success seems to go on infinitly. Further you will notice the "Upgrading Database" words...since when does a new install need to update a database that does not exist ? I am probably missing something here but I am getting very frustrated by the inability to install my favourite CMS.

So much so that I will be forced to purchase another product as I certainly no longer have any more time to try to resolve this issue. However, always ready to give DNN a second go has anybody else experienced this wierdness ?

Any help would be appreciated,

Kind Regards

I have set up many 4.9 instances and have not had this problem before. Are you certain you followed the correct steps, in the correct order, to install? Make sure you are not pointing to a database that is already in use in the web.config.

Thanks for your reply John. I have further information on the positive side !. I got my web host to restore my old DNN database while the Install Wizard advised that my database etc was the current version. Once the DB was restored I clicked the next button on the wizard and.......it Updated ! I had a minor problem though, none of the host or admin password would be recognised, so I created a new account the copied the password salt and the encrypted password from the DB for host and admin. I was then able to log on and promptly changed the passwords for these accounts.

A very frustrating couple of days, however, I am now happy once again to be using DNN 4.09 ! I appreciate everyone who viewed the post and thans to you for your reply.

Kind Regards.
