Hi friends.  I attempted an update from 4.8 to 4.9 last night: backup, download the new install version, edit web.config, upload filles, and run /Install/Install.aspx.  I got success messages from the install, but when I went to the site I got nothing more than an error message, actually a total of two in the browser.  The URL contained a strange message about "object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object."  Fortunately I had backed up!  Re-uploading the backup to a new folder and renaming the folders took time but did the trick, and I was able to log in to the old site before the attempted update.  It's a GoDaddy host.  Here's the first page load exception from the Events Viewer:

Forgive me my denseness, but I can't make hide nor hair of this information.  What's going on?  The attempted update is still on the server, in a renamed folder, so I don't think it's going to cause problems.  What's the next step?  Ken Purscell
