I have not had any luck getting DNN to work by hacking the web.config. I'm looking for an easier way to install it where there's less room for error. I had no problems in the past installing DNN using plesk. If someone knows another way of installing DNN, Please let me know?

Here are some questions I have in reference to a plesk install. I have a VPS server which does not come with SQL server configured. So I uploaded SQL Server 2005 express and installed it. It seems to be working fine - Question do I configure MSSQL 2005 express to use a separae login or the windows login?

Back to my issues. So, I have SQL server installed and then I executed a plesk.vb installer for plesk provided by the hosting company. It seemed to work fine, but It did not seem to detect my install of SQL server 2005 express. I did notice there is a plesk reconfigurator but, when it asks for a server address, I'm not sure if I can simply put in the IP address of the server or is it asking for something else?

My second to last question is about using the plesk installer. How do I add DNN 4.9 to the application pool? Is there a plesk install package specifically designed for this?

Has anyone tried this and is there a special install package I am supposed to use. I tried uploading the DNN 4.9 install but it did not seem to work. Am I supposed to use the starter package?

The grand finale is this. I see there is "starter package". Is this an easier way to install DNN?

thanks

Thanks

For your Plesk  to manage your SQL 2005 you have to add it to the Plesk.

Click Server > "Database Servers" > "Add Database Server"  Then your SQL 2005 Server should show in the list.  You would use the IP of your server or "localhost".

You have to use a APS package to inbstall in the application vault in plesk.  You get the packages from http://apsstandard.com/app/  4.8.2 release 9 is the latest package.  I could not find a 4.9 APS package for plesk.  I would like to have one.

Thank you for that information. Do I just upload it in plesk and then initiate an install? Or is there more involved?
