I swear DNN is going to send me round the bend !

I have just done an install that i can view on the local server using remote desktop, everything looks fine.

when i try and view it from my laptop i get an internal 500 server error

Most likely causes:

  • The website is under maintenance.
  • The website has a programming error

has anyone had this problem cause its driving me crazy.

cheers

martin

Check this post: Deploy DotNetNuke to a Server (not localhost)

I had the same problem. The solution is, that you MUST create a NEW portal by logging in as 'host'. Go to the 'Host' tab, select 'Portals',
click 'Add New Portal'.
Then enter the 'Portal Alias' (eg 192.168.0.123/"Virtual Directory") to point to this new portal.  You did create a Virtual Directory didn't you!
(eg. dotnetnuke)

Eneter the new 'Portal Alias' in you laptop browser (http://(eg 192.168.0.123/"Virtual Directory")

Good luck

Peter

Thanks I just added another alias to the portals table using the server name and it seems  to have solved it.
