I am in the process of setting up a number of dnn sites that will require ssl.

What is best practice for acheiving this.

the way I see it is host site with multiple portal sitting of the 1 website on iis  ie /portals/portalid

or seperate sites with 1 website each on iis

look forward to comments

In my experience, unless there is a very good reason to have multiple sites on a single DNN install, don't do it - keep it to one portal per DNN instance.

There are obvious cons to this - cost of module licenses, upgrading etc.

I have just encountered too many issues because I had multiple sites on a single instance - for any serious site (ie. over 1000 visitors a day) I would break them up (it is also a lot easier if you do this from the start - I am still cloning and splitting off portals).

What if im not in a position to have 1 portal per dnn instance. What is the next best thing to have multiple ssl sites on a 2008 server?
