Hello,

I have been trying to solve these problems with my website for the last 6 moths,

1. I need to move the website from www.xxxxxx.com/cms  to its original www.xxxxxx.com.  Because every time I go to the website it takes me to the cms folder which causes a little delay to open the website.

2. Don't know how to upgrage to 04.09.00

3. Is there a way to tweak the cms and make it faster.

thanks,

  1. you need to:
    • log in as host user add the new address (www.xxxxxx.com) as new additional portal alias into the section at the end of site settings.
    • If you have access to IIS, alter the directory for your web site to the base folder of your DNN installation.
    • In hosted environments, you need to copy the files up into root folder. make sure, you are provided with an option to grant full permission to this folder to your "network Service" user
    • call your site and login. Some of the images in Text/HTML modules may not show up due to a different path. there is a free tool from engage software, you may find handy to change this in all occurrences.
  2. it depends, on which version you are currently on.
  3. I posted a number of tipps a couple of days ago: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/272916/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Thanks for the tips Sebastian,

Regarding number 2, I'm using 4.8.0. My hosting provides the ability to update with a click of a button, but I get the usual error that says

To view details of the error, change Custom Erros tag to off instead of Remote Only. I did that to track the details but nothing happened and I didn't see any details regarding the error.

I will try number one, seems to be alot of work to me and I don't wanna miss up.
