Hi.

I'm setting up a new site from scratch with a new host as my old host just vanished into thin air :(

The initial setup attempts were unsuccessful (the usual back and forth about permissions until the host gets it right). I want to get through the entire install process  "clean" from start to finish to minimize risk of future trouble. Now, I can remove and re-upload all files but I need the host's support to remove and re-create the DB, which probably on't happen until tomorrow now.

Is there any simple way I can wipe all the tables, procedures etc. from the DB myself? I started deleting tables one by one using the Server Management Studio, but it'll take forever and I've already run into trouble as some tables can't be deleted (something about foreign keys).

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

You absolutely have to get another host.

Given that you appreciate the risks and the need to be clean and tidy with your site, you simply cannot build and maintain a DNN site in a serious manner without the ability to create, delete, export and restore databases, and apply file permissions at will. Zipping up the file system and exporting the database to download as a backup is also vital. Even a cheap $10 Webhost4life account gives you this sort of access, and many of the others do as well. Once you have all this sorted out, you can settle into a relatively safe build and maintain routine... which will give you time to start thinking about how to get enough resources to make the site work at a reasonable speed.

Do this now rather than later and save yourself a ton of drama.

Regards,
Rob

Who was you old hosting company? BTW, I use www.webhostforasp.net and love them! Good price and GREAT service!

If God does not live in Colorado, I bet he visits there a lot!!
