Well it might also be worth installing/reinstalling AJAX on your machine and (a very long shot) trying another browser, don't know which browser you are using right now?

So the question is now are others experiencing this issue with VISTA (sorry I'm sticking with XP).

Oh are you using medium or full trust in web.config as well?

Reinstalled AJAX for Dotnet 2 Framework. Trying IE7, Firefox, Chrome. Same error.

The database is not getting built out, essentially the installer breaks at step one.

So anybody else getting this error on Vista ultimate?
(Penny I assume you are using the 32 bit version).

Oh Penny, obvious question just to check, you have your file permissions set up correctly?
Have you made sure you have recursed the security permissions to child objects? (Right click web folder, Properties, Security, Advanced, tick "Replace permissions on all child objects", click OK... at least I hope it's that way in Vista as I'm using XP).

I have only had time to do a few simple tests.  Installed a fresh version of DNN4.8.2.  No changes and no additional modules installed.  I used the "_Install" version of each release.

Platform: Vista Business

DotNetNuke_04.08.02_Install  > DotNetNuke_04.09.01_Install  >  DotNetNuke_05.00.00_Install

Each install worked without error.

I would agree to wait for the next version of each for a production system.   The above will work for testing on your development box.
