Jimmy, need some clarification on the last post.

Are saying you installed dotnetnuke twice, each with different object qualifiers using the same database? And the second install failed?

Hi Alex Shirley

In order to avoid confusion, I created two databases for two Dnn instances for testing and development in one computer. The OS is win 2000 server, and the database Engine is MS SQL 2000. The second installation was successful and can run on the first time, but the error occurred when I ran on the second time to this second instance. This same error happened on the first Dnn instance installation procedure. I tried the first instance three times. The third try was successful. This first instance has been running well till now.

Thanks

There is a foreign key constraint between the EventLog and EventLogTypes table.  If DNN tries to insert an EventLog entry and the EventLogType is not in the EventLogType table, then it will throw this error above.  To see which EventLogType is missing from the EventLogTypes table, you can temporarily remove that table constraint that is causing the problem.  Of course, don't do this in production...make sure it's a test database that's backed up.

Then you can try the install again, and it will insert into the EventLog table the event log entries that it was failing to create the first time.  This doesn't SOLVE the problem - but it lets you see more information about the root of the problem.
