Hello All...

I have a web site running a asp.net 2008 web applicaiton under it, and as a subportal i am installng the Dotnet Nuke site as follows:

http://www.mainsite.com   -->  This is the main site running the Application of asp.net 2008

http://www.mainsite.com/sub/  --> Here is where i need to instal the Dotnet Nuke Application by creating the sub as a virtual dierctory under the main site...

when i am installing the site, i am getting few problems and after a lot of struggle, I am able to install the DNN and i am getting the Installation complete and getting the following error and when i am accesssing the portal,

Getting Object Reference Not set to Instance of an Object

Can any body help me in finding out the same?

make sure, not to place phyiscal folder inside physical directory of the parent app

you might need to make sure, that some web.config settings don't get inherited.

When you have a DNN site that is a subdirectory of another ASP.NET site (or vice versa) the sub site inherits all of the settings in the main site's web.config. Usually there are some settings that are incompatible with the sub site ... and its quite tricky to get it working right.  And the error message you can see does not really say much about what web.config settings could be the problem either.

Hello Sebastian,

Thank you very much for your quick response...!

Now, I have moved the files out of the Physial folder of my web application and the error in creating admin is not coming... But the Portal is not opening and is giving an error saying that "Object Reference not set to instance of an object" in the URL and on the default page, Only

is displayed with a return to site pointing to same page...!

Can you let me know where i am going wrong....

Check for error details in dotNetNuke EventLog table or windows event log
