Also I came across another similar post.... somebody suggested using Firefox as this is more likely to come up with an error rather than loop around.

Does this looping occur when you click "test db permissions" or the "next" button?  Has the user been given permission to use the DB (datareader and datawriter in the user mapping screen as a minimum)?

Sorry if this is obvious advice, all I can offer is (and I know you've done some of this already):

a) You are not copying all the files across for some reason (maybe worth downloading package again, and making sure files unzip properly.

b) Your file security is not set up correctly with appropriate permissions (check blogs/google/forums etc). Make sure all files/folders have the correct permission. Right click folder/Secuity, Advanced, tick replace permission entries on all child objects).

c) When you reinstall make sure you delete the database and try again (or delete/copy files across again).

Check out JK's post.

Otherwise I'm clueless.

Reached totally brain melt down with this so we've adjusted plans and installed on a different server with zero difficulties.  I think the problems may have been to do with some dodgy interaction between our old outgoing intranet and DNN.
