Hi,

I'm using the latest DNN (4.0.2) in VS2005.  I hadn't used DNN in a long time and I have to say that I'm quite impressed!

If there's any documentation on my question please point me to it.  I haven't found anything.

I have to show a demo of DNN to a colleague of mine and ran into problems while using the publish web site command of VS2005.  I've been developing a skin for DNN inside of VS2005 and setting up my portals and their environments.  Everything worked like a charm.  Once I publish the website though and try to hit it from a web browser, it keeps redirecting the user to the VS2005 internal webserver (http://localhost:xxxx/dnninstall).  I've pin-pointed the issue to the portal alias, but even when I add a new alias (http://www.mywebsite.com/dnninstall) it still tries to redirect to the internal web server.

I'm sure there's something simple that I'm missing, or something that I'm not doing correctly.  I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the correct direction.

Cheers,

Dominic

you might need to clear the cache using host settings.  Other then that maybe somethign is wrong with DNS.....but before you get that far you will have issues with localization once you get it up and running

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/80/threadid/27731/scope/posts/Default.aspx

When you precompile your website the APP_GlobalResources directory is removed so localization will no longer work for global resources.

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot use the VS05 publish capability. I struggled with this for a while and eventually gave up. You can copy project, if you want, but I have yet to see a way to use the publish feature.
