Good Evening,

I've installed DNN 4.9.1 source under inetpub/wwwroot/DotNetNuke490 and have made modifications to web.config per DNN INstallation Guide.pdf.  However, when I go to localhost/dotnetnuke490/website/install/install.aspx, I receive the following:

Can someone help me with this issue?  Thanks:)

  1. you do not need to touch web.config manually any longer. Restore original values by copying release.config to web.config
  2. make sure your IIS web site / virtual directory is pointing to the Website subfolder of the extracted package, where web.config is residing.

Sebastian,

Thank you!! The directions I obtained were flawed :(  I renamed release.config as web.config.  I'll have to re-extract the source files and try this again.  Do I need to re-create the database, or should it still be OK?

Thanks,

Sid

Sid,

if you start from the scratch, you need to start with a blank database (without user tables and no stored procedures).

I'll create a new DB and start the process again.  Do I need to modify web.config when installing the source package on my development workstation, or when installing the install package on the hosting server?

Thanks,

Sid
