Ok, I've been looking around and it doesn't look like there are many successfull installations of DNN on Godaddy. But before i pull the trigger and jump off of godaddy, let me see if anyone can help with this issue:

I installed DNN from their quick applications installations, it installed fine, created the db, I see all the files, but when browsing to mysite.com\dotnetnuke I get the -

500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I do have the web.config file, its mapped to the db fine. Is there a way to find out more about this error? can this be fixed? if not what is a less hassle host for DNN that can also support Joomla?

Thanks,

Viktor.

I struggled with this error on godaddy for a while as well.  I was told that if you have multiple web.config files, even if they are in different directories it can cause that problem.  Hope that helps!

Hello

Any solution to have multiple web.config files?

I have a web.config in root dir for my home website.  I need to install DNN under subdir by creating virtual dir in IIS.

I did the same installation in local server, it is working.  But at godaddy, occur the error:

500 - Internal server error.

Thanks

I put the following to system.webserver section in root folder web.config

    <system.webServer>
             <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed"/>
             <asp scriptErrorSentToBrowser="true"/>

The meaningful error is now display.

And I saw there is a module declared in both root web.config and also virtual directory web.config.

So I delete this line from virtual directory web.config.

The problem is solved now.

I also comment out the above two lines to hide error for security.

Hi all,
Very very new to DNN so please be patient with me.....

I registered my domain name just today with GoDaddy and am using them to host my website also.

I would really like to get DNN 4.9.1 up and running on this.

From what I have been reading so far it seems pretty hard to do. I am looking for a newbie proof tutorial\simple steps on how to set this up if someone has one or can point me to one that you do not have to subscribe too.

The video tutorials on here are simply fantastic and they have helped me get a much better understanding of what DNN is and what it can do.

All the best,
Mark
