Hi,

I installed a fresh install of DNN 5.0.0 last night - everything seemed fine at the time.

I went to actually start using my installation and now I click login and get the following error:

  A critical error has occurred.
Method not found: 'System.Collections.Hashtable DotNetNuke.Services.Authentication.AuthenticationConfigBase.get_ModuleSettings()'.

I have found a thread that seems to address this issue - however it seems to involve Active Directory providers - I don't understand why this is relavent to me as I don't use Active Directory nor do I want do..

Should I be installing a 4.* version as it seems to me that 5.0.0 is fundamentally broken - I want the path of least resistance and the only fix I have found seems to involve downloading and trusting someone's component that they have created.

Please advise, I've been out of the Dotnetnuke loop for a few months

regards,

James

that's a little odd, i thought that issue only occurred if you installed a 4.x install package and then upgraded via the 5.0 upgrade package (as there was a breaking change that affected the providers). See http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2131/DNN-5-and-get_ModuleSettings-When-Login-is-Clicked.aspx for guidance on fixing it.
