I am new to DNN and am trying to setup a new installation for my company's intranet. I have a clean install of Windows server 2008 and sql server 2005 express. I have created the database DotNetNuke and made sure the mdf file is in the app_data folder within wwwroot. I have given the network_services login owner rights to the db as well as created another user. I cannot get it the install to complete. It won't go past the database connection information. When I browse to http://localhost/install/installwizard.aspx I can pass the file securtiy check and then the configure database connection appears. No matter what information I provide I get errors. The are currently 2 errors I get when I hit next. The first one says Cannot open user default databse. Login Failed  The second error is Login failed for user 'NT Authority\Network Service'. I have tried different connection strings in my web.cfg file. The sql 2005 express server is on the same server as the dnn installation. The server name is intranet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Zach

try to login to sql server itself with that user id (not through the DNN)...you may find it wont work.

One thing to possiblky check, is if you have set up sql server to be access through windows auth AND sql server auth. It may be sitting only at wondows auth. If thats not your problem, look at the log table, youll see a few errors at the top of the table which will be the login errors from trying to access it from your site.

(note, all the above is assuming you have setup your web.config correctly)

I was able to get it to let me log in with the network service account as well as the user name that I setup when creating the database. It is now at the installation script screen and the status bar keep sgoing back and forth. Seems to be taking a long time to complete. It has been doing this for about 15 minutes. How long should it take?  Thanks for your troubleshooting help.
