wondering how to deploy the site in localhost, have installed skin and modules and my own development and LocalizationExtensions,  to remove production server

I am getting error on some setting under the Admin and Host menu, getting error when swtching to another language

want the easy way to deploy it to the remove production server as a new DNN site

I tried, 1) copy the web folder , 2)in Visual Stuido->Publish web site, FTP it, but both didn't work on production host. I have to install a empty DNN on production then install the skin, modules, export and import the portal one by one? that take times...

there are just a few simple steps:

  1. create a new portal alias in your local installation, to accomodate for your live locatain (logon as host, then admin > site settings). If your production site will run on http://www.domain.com,. you should enter www.domain.com as a new portal alias
  2. move your database to a live location (eg. by making a backup and restoring that backup on the live server)
  3. make sure you test access to that database: in most cases it is easiest to create a new db user that has proper access to the database
  4. move all files in your application root to the production location. You can do that using FTP. Please use not the visual studio publish website option as that is not completely compatible to DNN
  5. browse to your production site
