I attempted to upgrade from 05.00.00 to 05.00.01 this morning and get an error on the first step (executing the SQL upgrade script).

It says ... Error! (see 05.00.01.log for more information)

Where is this .log file?

The site is currently unusable -- just returns an error.

I restored the database.
I kicked off the installer from Firefox.
The installaiton screen said it was successful.
I clicked to go to the site...

And I still got the error...

I restored the database.
I downloaded the "INSTALL" package (had initially tried the upgrade) package.
Launched the installer.
The installation screen said it was successful.
I clicked to go to the site...

And I still get the error.

You must delete the System.Web.Extensions.dll file from the bin.

Not sure how THAT got by the QA folks.

Thanks to "Derek" for figuring that out: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/291042/scope/posts/Default.aspx

UPDATE: See the followup posts for the "correct" solution.

I haven't verified this in anyway, but I believe the problem has to do with a bug that was in the "Upgrade Framework" web.config merge.

Can you check your web.config before you delete that dll?

The bold bits needs to get deleted, that should get your site going again. I think...
