I had DNN 4 running just fine under VWD Express and then tried to move it to IIS so that I could show it to my client.

Now I can't run it at all because it gives the error "Login failed for user ". I am assuming this is something to do with the fact that when I created the database under VWD it was created using my windows login as the database owner.

So I fired up 2005 Server Managerment studio, attached the DNN express database. added the ASPNET account as a user made it a dbo and ... nothing!

I've been googling all night but have mostly picked up sites which are currently causing this error! As opposed to any fixes.

Hopefully someone else must have done this recently and know how to fix it.

Thanks,

Have you altered the DB connection settings in the web.config to reflect the new DB location?

Database hasn't moved... it is still in the app_data directory.

Is IIS on the same machine as your development env?  If not then the SQL address will have altered or you have to attach the DNN database to the SQL instance that is accessible from the IIS box.

Yes IIS is on the same machine. In general how does one go live with a SQL Express based website developed under VWDEE? By creating the database it ends up being owned by the person logged in at the time. Then when you go live in theory you x-copy it, but that doesn't take into account providing the permissions required for the IIS to access it? I'm sure I've seen some other posts about this but can't find them again. Surely everyone has to deal with this issue?
